Introducing the Team at New Heights Autism Support Society
by Who We Are Founded in 2017, New Heights Autism Support Society was started in Kamloops, British Columbia by Patricia Kennedy and a few parents with a vision. We now provide services all over the Interior of BC, including Salmon Arm, Armstrong, Chase, Merritt, Lillooet, Lytton, Clearwater, Barriere, Cache Creek, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Williams Lake, Quesnel, Bella Coola, and places in between.
Patricia is a category “A” Behavior Consultant on the Registry of Autism Service Providers List. She has over 25 years experience working in education, 15 of which were in First Nation's schools. For several years she has been working specifically with families who have children with autism and other special needs, including hiring and supervising Behavior Interventionists (BI) and Child Care Workers (CCWs) working with children with Autism. She has been twice nominated for recognition by Autism BC for her work as a Behaviour Consultant throughout the Cariboo and Interior Areas of BC, and was shortlisted in 2018.
We are a group of multi-talented, creative professionals and para-professionals who have worked together for a few years, with diverse interests and talents. We recognized the lack of access and choices for services for families of children with autism in Kamloops and the Interior of BC. Deciding to think outside of the box for a unique solutions, to address a better, child friendly family centred fit, we decided to set up the Non Profit Society to do this, to ensure that children with Autism and their families have the support service and interventions they want and need. We welcome any interested person to join our society to assist us in that basic mission.
